Hands-On Garden Tours
Book a Private Farm Garden Tour
Private group garden tours can be booked most Saturdays and Sundays June-October. To learn more and book, visit Airbnb Experiences.
Join me in the garden to taste, smell, and celebrate what’s in season in the Adirondacks! This is a private, unique, hands-on opportunity to learn about how food, flowers, and culinary and medicinal herbs are grown from seed to plate. First, we will take a tour of the farm and gardens where I will introduce you to what’s growing and blooming at the moment. We will smell, taste, and learn about different vegetables, fruit, flowers, and herbs.
Then, we will do a hands-on activity together of your choosing, including:
-Using edible flowers (decorate a cake or cheese plate, go home with edible flowers you pick from the garden)
-Making herbal teas and medicinal herbal preparations (Make & go home with your own custom tea blend)
-Using and preserving culinary herbs (make & go home with your own herb salt)
-Playing with floral design (make & go home with your own floral arrangement)
*availability changes through the season! The garden peak is July-September*
Discounted rates and custom tours are available for local groups, schools, and organizations. Please be in touch!
FAQ:
HOW DO I PAY?
You can either pay through Airbnb, or, you can request to be sent an online payment link prior to your visit.
WHAT IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER?
Private tours are rain or shine, so dress accordingly!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING/WEAR?
Come with an eagerness to learn more about food, farming, and plants, that is all! We do have mosquitoes and ticks. Wear good shoes, layers, sun, bug, and rain protection. A bottle of water is always a good idea too.
ARE KIDS WELCOME?
Kids and families are more than welcome and LOVE the garden! Kids under 12 are free for private tours and workshops, please just let me know ahead of time how many kids will be in your group so I can plan ahead.
HOW MUCH ACTIVITY SHOULD I EXPECT?
Expect to spend about 70 minutes standing and walking on relatively flat ground around the farm. If that does not work for your group, please let me know in advance and we can make a plan that works for you.
CAN YOU MAKE SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS?
If there is anything I can do to make your visit to the garden more comfortable, accessible, or enjoyable- please let me know!
IS THERE ON-SITE LODGING?
Yes, depending on the time of year! Click here to find all the lodging options available through DaCy Meadow Farm on Airbnb.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL OR RE-SCHEDULE?
Because my schedule of workshops and tours can be very full, I ask that folks only cancel in extenuating circumstances. Cancelations made 7 days in advance of a scheduled booking will receive a full refund. I will try my best to accommodate reschedules at no charge, but please remember I am a one-person team with limited availability.
CAN I BOOK A TOUR LAST MINUTE?
Online bookings can be made up to a week in advance. If you are looking to book a tour or workshop less than a week away, please email me to see if we can arrange a time that works for you.
CAN YOU TAKE SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS AND GROUPS?
Totally! Just let me know at least a week in advance how I can make your visit more special.
WHAT COVID-19 PROTOCOLS DO YOU FOLLOW?
If you are sick or have been exposed to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home.
DO YOU SELL YOUR VEGGIES OR PRODUCTS?
Not really! Generally, all of what is grown in the garden is utilized by you-pick. In the winter, I do sell some herbal products. If you are looking for something specific, please be in touch and I can point you to another local farmer that may have what you’re looking for if I don’t have it.
CAN I JUST STOP BY THE GARDEN?
Unfortunately, I don’t live or work in the garden full-time, so visits should be made by appointment only. However, you’re welcome to stop by anytime during Community You-Pick nights.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Because there is fresh food growing in the garden, we ask that dogs stay at home. There is no parking area with shade, please do not leave your dog in your car in hot weather.
DO YOU SELL YOU-PICK FLOWERS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, LIKE WEDDINGS?
If you’d like to pick your own flowers for a special event or wedding, I would be happy to talk with you about that. Flowers are really only in full bloom in August and September in my garden. Mossbrook Roots Flower Farm and Florist is a great resource for local flowers for special events.
