Garden Ground Rules

The Creative Kitchen Garden is intended to be a space of nourishment, renewal and community for all people. We ask that all visitors follow our Garden Ground rules so that we can best honor the land and each other.

  • We’re all in this garden together! When you join, you’re sharing in the joys and abundance of the harvest, as well as the challenges we sometimes face from weather, pests, or other surprises that nature brings. By agreeing to the Garden Ground Rules, you’re acknowledging that, while we do our very best, there may be times when certain crops don’t thrive.

  • Please drive very slowly and watch for chickens, dogs, and people.

  • The garden gates must be closed at all times. Always make sure the gate is closed securely behind you. If the chickens get inside the garden, they will cause extreme damage to the crops and kill plants.

  • Take care of provided you-pick supplies, return them to their storage after use.

  • There are many farm animals at the farm, including free-ranging chickens, goats, cows, and dogs. Please observe them from a distance, and never feed, chase, or touch the animals. This is for your safety and theirs.

  • No dogs are allowed. There is no shade in the parking area, do not leave them in your car.

  • You are entering someone’s home. People live on the farm and in the building adjacent to the garden space. Please be respectful with noise and language when in the garden.

  • Do not enter any building, at any time.

  • Kids must be with an adult at all times. The garden is a place of wonder and exploration for kids, please just make sure you stick together.

  • Only walk in paths and be gentle on the plants.

  • Please only pick what you’re invited to pick. This ensures there is enough for everyone.

  • Be kind to each other. If you see someone else in or around the garden, say hello and be courteous.

  • Help one another out! If you see someone else in the garden who could use a hand, or some guidance, please support one another.

  • Leave things as you found them, make sure any compost is placed in the compost bucket, and take any trash out with you.

  • No smoking, drugs, or alcohol anywhere on the farm.

  • All visitors of the garden are expected to join us in a culture of respect, open communication, and shared commitment to providing a safe and welcoming space for all members. This means that language and behavior that communciates discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and other identities will not be tolerated in the garden.

Those who fail to follow the garden ground rules will be asked to leave, and their membership can be terminated without refund.
